An hour of maintenance before the first freeze prevents the expensive repairs we see every spring.
Most of the water damage we repair in spring traces back to something small that went unchecked in the fall. A short seasonal routine prevents almost all of it.
Clear the gutters and downspouts so meltwater has somewhere to go. Walk the roofline with binoculars and note any lifted shingles or exposed flashing. Seal gaps around windows and hose bibs before the first hard freeze.
None of this is glamorous, but a free afternoon in October routinely saves a five-figure repair in April.
